Methods of laser cleaning.

The method of cleaning with laser has been known for a long time. We have chosen right modes and methods to remove dried ink from the surface of the roll.
The principle of LaserEcoClean™ comes from thermo mechanics. A shock wave, generated by a laser, breaks the adhesion of dried ink to the ceramic coating of anilox roll.
The laser beam focused to a spot in a size of several cells, heats up the residue, accumulated in the cells of the roll and pulverizes all dirt from the cells.

None of the existing methods of thorough cleaning (except LaserEcoClean™) can penetrate into microscopic cells of anilox roll, regardless of its specification:

  • With Ultrasonic Cleaning it is impossible to control the cavitation process in ultrasonic tank, thus there is no guarantee that anilox volume will reach its original specification after the cleaning.

  • Media Blast systems use air pressure to propel media against the roll surface. The particles of material should be small enough to fit into the cells of the roll. Media Blast method works well for low screen count anilox, while it can easily damage thin bridges of high screen count rolls.

  • Chemical wash has too many specifications depending on anilox characteristics and ink types. It is not ecologically friendly.

  • All methods require consumables, which is small but regular expense.

  • Equipment for Ultrasonic or Media Blast cleaning methods comes to about 40 000 euro in cost (maintenance, consumables and specialists salary included). Printers can receive our LaserEcoClean service at the same cost for 10 years, having 40 - 60 anilox rolls cleaned once a year.
